Just across from the Cruise Ship Piers 3 and 4 in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico, Punto de Vista Restaurant bills itself as "The Local Hole in the Wall". The best Mofongo & Buy 1 Get 1 Free Mojitos.
The restaurant itself could best be described as “local dive, with an attempt at beachy.” It has a small dining room, with mismatched and dated furniture, a funky bar, and bright paint colors and murals on the walls. They are know to have the ‘best mofongo in Puerto Rico’ If you do not know what Mofungo is, it basically a mashed plantain concoction that ends up having a consistency similar to mashed potatoes. It appears the plantains are traditionally mashed with broth, garlic, olive oil, and sometimes bacon for flavor. And yes, that picture is the actual Mofungo that is served at Punto de Vista, although you would never know it by looking at the atmosphere of this place.
The menu was a mix of authentic Puerto Rican dishes and American classics, pleasing both tourists and locals alike.
